Tokyo Day 3

On Tokyo day three we took the Shinsaken (bullet) train to Niko to see the Togetsu Shrine. Niko is a two hour train ride about 150 km north of Tokyo. After being in one of the worlds largest cities, with a population over 12 million, it’s nice to get out in nature. Niko’s hilly terrain was a welcome change to Tokyo’s flatness. We had the best lunch in a little place in Niko. The table was a polished log. We had fresh sushi and some noodles with tempura & an egg. We went there with Larry’s family. Dale had a little mishap with bird poop. I guess he was a good target. For dinner we had curry in the Tokyo train station. I’m not sure if this was the place that Jana was talking about, but it was pretty good & simple. Before you enter the restaurant, which is just a counter, you put money in a vending machine & push a button with a picture of the dish you want. Then when you sit down, you hand them the ticket & your dinner appears in about two minutes. Most of our meals are between 900 to 1,500 yen, which is about $9-$15. They say Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world, but we’ve been doing pretty good. After dinner we went to the Ginza district, which is one of the most expensive real estate in the world. The stores are expensive brands, such as Gucci, Couch, Brooks Brothers & other expensive clothing shops. Mom hasn't bought anything yet. Ginza isn't really her style anyway.
